Chariots of Fire (1981)

Hugh Hudson directs Ben Cross, Ian Charleson and Nigel Havers in this post-WWI posh boys with chips on their shoulders running drama.

People bring up your Crashes and your The Greatest Show on Earths as the worst Oscar winner for Best Picture. They at least had something about them. This only has a great synth score by Vangelis and not much else. Poor little rich boys who want to run. After a lot of talk and toffing… they run. I’m surprised I made it to the finish line of this chintzy museum piece.
